Terra Networks S.A, an affiliate of Telefonica S.A , already acquired Lycos
on 16 June 2000 to create Terra Lycos, the leading global Internet portal.,
which provides internet access in Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Peru and
other Latin American countries.
The company has announced its merger with one of the most technologically advanced companies in digital content, Ifigenia Plus, which developed several content-based web projects such as Biblionet, EducaRed Program . The aim of Telefonica is to spread the use of the Spanish language on the Net and to become the leading educational and content portal for Spain and Latin America.
