SMB DigitalScape indicates the majority of SMBs in Turkey lack online and mobile digital presence.

The most recent publication of the SMB DigitalScape analysis reveals significant fundamental challenges for SMBs with digital commerce and online and mobile marketing.

07.02.2013, İstanbul

Developed by vSplash Techlabs and published in partnership with Yellow Medya, the SMB DigitalScape is a powerful data collection and analysis engine that gauges the state of SMB digital media and commerce readiness. vSplash’s SMB DigitalScape has analyzed more than 4.5 million SMBs in 14 countries around the world, including more than 800,000 SMBs in Turkey.

“In an era when connecting and conducting business via the Web and mobile devices is increasing, SMBs are not adapting fast enough to new consumer behavior in location-based engagement and transaction,” said Umesh Tibrewal, CEO of vSplash. “We launched SMB DigitalScape to bring to the forefront the challenges SMBs face in leveraging the Web and the trends driving their business success in the social, local and mobile digital marketing arenas.”

“Sadly we are not seeing much improvement in SMBs embracing the concept of digital discovery in Turkey,” commented Trevor Nadeau, Managing Director of Yellow Medya. “Consumers are furiously embracing social, local and mobile platforms to find the places they want to shop. Unfortunately SMBs are not keeping up with this trend, leaving their businesses out of this massive sales opportunity pool, which in most cases these days is the consumer’s smart phone.”

Additional SMB DigitalScape findings suggest that many SMBs just don’t have a website and if they do, in most cases they are virtually non-discoverable based on key criteria required by search engines and mobile platforms for business listing discovery. Deficiencies include lack of mobile optimization, meta titles, privacy policies and keywords.

Other highlights from the SMB DigitalScape for Turkey include:

99 percent of SMB websites are not optimized for mobile devices.
73 percent of SMB websites lack a phone number on their home page for consumers to contact the business.
90 percent of SMB websites have no Facebook link on their home page.
98 percent of SMB websites have no map or directions to their business location.
94 percent of SMB websites have no privacy policy.
